Renovations approved with the passage of the 2008 construction bond will continue this summer at 27 Salem-Keizer schools. Eleven of the 27 schools are preparing to close for repairs and renovations during summer. Details of the work to be completed can be found in the publication, Projects at a Glance.
Office operations for each of the eleven closed schools will be relocated to other school sites for the summer. Information about the summer location of each school's office will be posted on the Construction Bond Updates section, along with specifics about projects taking place at each school. Parents and guardians of students enrolled in these schools will want to check the site as schools prepare for summer break to find updates, school office hours and contact information.
Funds for Summer 2011 construction projects are provided through the 2008 voter-approved construction bond. By law, bond funds can only be spent on projects associated with the bond, and cannot be used for school operations or to reduce the current general fund defecit. In this difficult economic climate, the district can help boost employment in the community by investing bond funds into school construction projects. Thanks to the community's support of the bond, our schools will provide a healthier learning environment for our students.
